While the idea of “Everyday Carry,” or EDC, is not new, it is gaining traction. It’s the stuff you tote about with you regularly so that you’ll be ready for everything from routine jobs to dire crises. Even while I haven’t seen an i5R EOS EDC flashlight as long as others I’ve read about, there are a few things that I never leave home without. In my opinion, the everyday carry flashlight is one of the most practical.
Because I keep my everyday carry flashlight in my shirt breast pocket, I was previously confined to using a pen light due to its manageable size, small weight, and high lumen output. Around this time is when I first started using and quickly grew to love the Stream light Stylus Pro i5R EOS EDC Pen Light.
The Stream light Stylus Pro LED Pen Light is conveniently pocket-sized at 5.3 inches in length and.6 inches in diameter, and it runs on two common and cheap triple-A batteries. However, there were occasions when the 24-lumen output wasn’t sufficient and I wished I had a stronger i5R EOS EDC flashlight. (Since then, Stream light has improved the Stylus Pro to emit 48 lumens of light, making an already fantastic pen light much better.)
Long having been a fan of Stream light’s products, I jumped at the chance to purchase one of their ProTac 2AA LED Tactical Flashlights when they were released. The ProTac 2AA, which can be powered by a single AA battery, is far more adaptable than the Stylus Pro light and, at 120 lumens on high, is much brighter.
The Stream light ProTac 2AA LED Tactical Flashlight is fantastic, with just one major drawback: its maximum thickness. of 90 inches It’s a touch too long to fit comfortably in my front shirt pocket at 5.97 inches. The ProTac 2AA LED flashlight is best stored in a belt holster, a cargo pocket, or a bag.
I just acquired a 5.11 Tactical ATAC PLx Flashlight from their newly released ATAC family of lights. Triple A batteries power the ATAC PLx, which is 5 inches in length and.7 inches in diameter (with batteries). It weighs 2.2 ounces with batteries and is about the same size as the Streamlight Stylus Pro Pen Light. The ATAC PLx stands out because of its 69-lumen output, which is over 45% brighter than the existing Stylus Pro. As an everyday-carry light, I’ve been extremely satisfied with it thus far. Compared to the Streamlight ProTac 2AA LED Tactical Flashlight, the beam is much weaker and less focused, but the smaller size has proven to be worthwhile thus far.
Gains from Using an “EDC” Flashlight
What we call an “everyday carry” light or EDC light, is a small flashlight designed to be carried wherever, day or night. Due to their tiny size, extraordinary durability, and the tremendous power of high-quality LEDs, tactical led flashlights are gaining favor as everyday carry lights.
Led tactical lights are often made of aircraft-grade aluminum, which can survive extreme conditions. You may get flashlights with 10 or more LEDs and still spend less than $30 sometimes. It is not always the case that a flashlight with more LEDs is a superior flashlight. As LEDs have improved, just a single high-quality led is required, even at more affordable price points.
Xenon and Cree-led diodes in led flashlights provide such intense light that they may be used as weapons. Showing someone high-intensity light from high-quality LEDs straight in the eyes from even a short distance will temporarily blind them. The high-quality LED flashlights made by companies like Fenix, Surefire, and Streamlight can run for a long time on a single AA, triple-A, or CR123a battery.
Smaller tactical led flashlights powered by a single AAA battery are convenient for everyday carry due to their tiny size and sturdy design. It’s helpful to always have a powerful light at the ready, whether you’re in a dim parking garage or exploring the depths of a basement.
Everyday carry (EDC) flashlights are great presents for almost everyone, while younger folks should be warned about the LED lights’ extreme brightness and taught to be cautious around their piercing rays of light. Besides palm-sized tactical aluminum housings, there are also key chain-led lights that are surprisingly powerful for their size. The Photon microlight is a popular kind of LED keychain flashlight.
